Thrilling finale for youth league

Team Wellington can still win the National Youth League title (Photosport)

A nail-biting final weekend is in store in the National Youth League with four sides still in the running to lift the trophy.

Waitakere United had looked odds on to claim the title a couple of weeks ago but have lost form at the worst possible time, suffering consecutive defeats to open the door for defending champions Auckland City, Hamilton Wanderers and Team Wellington – all of whom posted victories over the weekend to keep themselves in the hunt.

Auckland, Hamilton and Waitakere are now all tied at the top of the table with only goal difference separating them while Team Wellington are two points further back in fourth.

The destination of the title will therefore be decided in the last set of matches this weekend with Hamilton and Waitakere due to face each other while Auckland meet Canterbury United away and Team Wellington pay a visit to Eastern Suburbs.
