WHO WE ARE

The Home of Football in Aotearoa

We are football in Aotearoa. We are the beautiful game. And we are proud to be one of the largest sporting whānau in New Zealand. As the national body for football and futsal, New Zealand Football leads the growth, development, and success of the game at every level - uniting communities and inspiring the next generation.

Our Purpose

We exist to enrich lives and connect people through the power of football. By creating positive experiences on and off the pitch, we aim to build strong, inclusive communities across Aotearoa.

Our Values

We believe in the power of enjoyment, bringing joy to everyone in the game. We act with respect, work through collaboration, and embrace inclusiveness in all we do. Guided by ambition, we’re always striving to grow football and its impact across Aotearoa.

Our Story

Founded in 1891, New Zealand Football (NZF) has a long and proud history. We became affiliated with FIFA in 1948 and were a founding member of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) in 1966, alongside Australia, Fiji and Papua New Guinea.

New Zealand has twice qualified for the FIFA World Cup, in 1982 and 2010, and has proudly represented at six FIFA Women’s World Cups—1991, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023.

Our goal is for football to be the most inclusive sport in Aotearoa, where every member has positive experiences that foster a lifelong love of the beautiful game.

Our Federations

New Zealand Football works in collaboration with it's six member federations to deliver football and futsal in our communities nationwide.

One Unified Brand Identity

New Zealand Football and the six member federations have joined together under one unified brand identity as part of a wider programme of work to generate more efficiency and effectiveness for members, and better serve our communities.

Aligning under one brand was one of the objectives outlined in the 'Think National, Act Local' pillar of the Delivery and Sustainability project.
