The meteoric rise of Sarpreet Singh has continued with the All Whites midfielder being promoted to the first team of Bayern Munich, one of the biggest clubs in world football.
The prodigiously talented 20-year-old is one of four players brought up from the reserves to work permanently with the first team of the German giants, whose star-studded squad includes the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, Serge Gnabry, Jérôme Boateng and Philippe Coutinho.
The decision to promote the quartet of promising young talent – which also includes Joshua Zirkzee, Oliver Batista Meier and Leon Dajaku – has been made by new coach Hansi Flick, who recently took over from Niko Kovac.
"We’re convinced that these boys will develop in the best way if they train with the best players,” he said.
“In our first team, they have the conditions to do that.”
After signing from the Wellington Phoenix, Singh featured for the Bayern first team in pre-season but is yet to make his Bundesliga debut.
He earns his step up after starring for the club’s second string, who play in the third tier of the German professional system.
Having broken into the first-team fold, his goal now will be to make it onto the field in a competitive fixture.
The defending champions are currently third in the Bundesliga standings, four points off top spot.
Singh most recently played for the All Whites earlier this month, starting in a 3-1 defeat to the Republic of Ireland before coming on a half-time in a 1-0 loss to Lithuania.
