Northern Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that its men’s youth and senior representative teams who compete at both football and futsal in national competitions will play under the new identity of the Northern Comets.
The Northern Comets branding will help to provide an identity for players, staff and supporters to associate with while supporting the growth of football and futsal within the federation.
NFF Chief Executive John Limna believes the new branding will provide aspirational pathways for males playing football and futsal, and that the rebrand will encourage more boys to take up the sport.
“We are very proud of our representative teams, players and their achievements. We aim to provide the best possible environments for players within our region to reach their full potential," he says.
“The Northern Comets is the culmination of months of planning and development behind the scenes by our federation staff and is something we are all really invested in and proud to be part of.
“Both football and futsal within the NFF region has been growing steadily and we hope this new identity for our teams will help to create aspirational role models to bring even more players into the game."
Speaking about the new Northern Comets brand for the upcoming Futsal National League Season, Futsal White Oban Hawkins said:
“The team are super stoked to have a new look this year. A fresh new kit and a new name will help re-energise the squad as we look to build on last year’s performance.
“The team are really grateful for the work NFF have put into the Futsal National League team over the last few seasons and we hope to reward them with our efforts on the court this season."
The Northern Comets will be the team brand for the men’s Futsal National League, male National Age Group Tournament and male National Youth Futsal Championship teams.
The Northern Comets will also have their own social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter as well as their own website to help build the profile of the teams and players representing the federation. The links for these are available below.
