Fans looking to pack out Westpac Stadium in Wellington next month to support the Football Ferns in their homecoming match against Japan can now finalise their plans after tickets went on public sale today.
The June 10 meeting between the two nations will be the first time the Ferns have played on home soil since 2015 and their first appearance in the capital for 27 years.
Tickets are just $15 for adults while children under-16 are only $5 (a $1 booking fee and credit card fees also apply). Infants under two are free and do not require a ticket.
Those who get in promptly will be rewarded with all pre-purchasers of an adult ticket before June 8 also receiving one free child ticket.
There is also plenty of incentive to get your whole club or school team along to the game with 10 per cent off group tickets of 20 or more (available only through the Ticketek Box Office phone line on 0800 TICKETEK).
The on-field action will be well worth witnessing with the Football Ferns ranked in the world’s top 20 and coming up against one of the best teams in the world. Japan are ranked 11th and won the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup before finishing runners-up in 2015.
This year, they finished sixth at the Algarve Cup and won the AFC Women’s Asian Cup title for the second time in their history last month. They have already qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup next year.
“We are delighted to be able to offer world-class international football at such an affordable price,” New Zealand Football CEO Andy Martin says.
“This is a great chance to get behind the Football Ferns on home soil against one of the best teams in the world. It was a special atmosphere last November for the All Whites and it would be great to see football fans in New Zealand come out in numbers to support the Ferns.”
New Zealand and Japan have met eight times throughout their history with the Nadeshiko winning six of those games and the other two ending in draws, in 2008 and 2013. It will be the first time the two teams have played each other since Japan won 1-0 in Kagawa in 2015.
