The fixtures have been announced for the Youth Futsal Championship 2024, taking place at Ākau Tangi Sports Centre in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington from this Saturday, with Wellington Phoenix entering for the first time, their first foray into the sport.
The tournament, played from Saturday 7 December to Tuesday 10 December, sees six competitions run simultaneously: Boys U-19, U-17 and U-15, and Girls U-19, U-17 and U-15.
36 sides are set to take part in the tournament across the six competitions, with teams travelling from across the country to compete for national glory.
The Nix’ will enter three sides in the Boys U-17 and U-15, as well as the Girls U-15, competitions, and will hope to repeat their successes at age group football level, with both their boys’ and girls’ sides winning the Youth National League this year.
A selection of games each day from the Youth Futsal Championships will be broadcast live and free on the New Zealand Football YouTube channel.
2023 saw Waikato Rapids dominate the tournament, winning the Boys U-17, U-15, and Girls U-15 events, with Central Futsal claiming the Boys U-19, Capital Futsal lifting the Girls U-19 title, and Auckland City becoming Girls U-17 champions.
