New Zealand Football are pleased to welcome Lisa Jones to the newly created role of General Manager Competitions and International Events.
This role will be responsible for leading NZF’s National Competitions and International Events portfolio.
National competitions play a critical role in supporting the talent pathway for players, coaches, and referees, and in turn increasing the presence of New Zealanders in professional football.
In addition to managing and overseeing our national competitions and delivery of international games, Jones will be responsible for working with stakeholders to develop a long-term plan for the evolution of sustainable national competitions for both football and futsal.
Jones brings a wealth of experience in strategic sports leadership, operations and competition delivery, having held senior executive and governance roles at leading organisations such as Cricket Wellington, Wellington Hockey, and Capital Football, as well as being an A-League Match Commissioner.
New Zealand Football CEO Andrew Pragnell said:
“I’m delighted to welcome Lisa to New Zealand Football and know her experience and knowledge of the game, as well as New Zealand sport in general, will be invaluable as we continue to grow as the biggest participation sport in the country.
“Her expertise in leadership, managing football competitions, and stakeholder relationship experience, as well as her deep and abiding love of the game, will be a major asset to the organisation.”
Incoming General Manager Competitions and International Events Lisa Jones said:
"After a few years away from football, I'm delighted to be returning at a hugely exciting time for the game.
"Football and futsal are exploding across the country, from the community to professional game, and I look forward to working to help continue to evolve how New Zealand Football delivers competitions and major events.
"I've really enjoyed my time with Cricket Wellington but am excited to take on this new challenge in January."
Lisa Jones will commence her role on 20th January 2025.
