New Zealand referees Anna-Marie Keighley and Sarah Jones have been selected by FIFA as match officials for the home FIFA Women’s World Cup this July and August in Aotearoa.
Anna-Marie Keighley has been selected as a referee for the tournament. The 2023 edition will be the third FIFA Women’s World Cup she has been selected as a match official for after 2015 in Canada and 2019 in France.
Sarah Jones has been selected as an assistant referee for the tournament. 2023 will also be her third FIFA Women’s World Cup after 2015 and 2019. She was also the first Kiwi women to be assistant referee for an A-League Men’s game in 2016.
Keighley and Jones’s selection marks Aotearoa New Zealand continuing to be represented by match official on the global stage following Matthew Conger and Mark Rule officiating at the FIFA World Cup 2022 and Antony Riley and Chris Sinclair at the FIFA Futsal World Cup in 2021.
