New Zealand Football, with support from McDonalds, is now on the CoachMate app

New Zealand Football, in partnership with community football’s greatest supporter McDonalds, is now on the CoachMate app, giving coaches and volunteers the confidence and skills to easily deliver great football experiences.

With CoachMate, downloadable for free on Android and iPhone, coaches can access the right curriculum for junior and youth players’ age and stage and put together tailored coaching sessions in a matter of minutes.

Creating a session is simple with easy-to-understand video activities and personalised practice plans that can be easily communicated with players and coaches via the app.

New Zealand Football Technical Director Andy Boyens says it was a no-brainer to use CoachMate and believes it could transform coaching in the community game:

“New Zealand Football are thrilled to be working with CoachMate to help innovate the way we communicate our junior and youth programs and get them into the hands of all our incredible volunteer coaches across Aotearoa.

“We appreciate the significant value our volunteer coaches bring day in and day out to develop our young people playing the beautiful game.

“We're excited to be able to support the coaches that inspire our next generation by providing world-class technology to make the job of coaching easier and ultimately more rewarding for everyone.”

Simon Kenny, Head of Communications for McDonalds New Zealand, sees the CoachMate app as a great extension to the resources developed in recent years in support of the community game:

“A key focus of our support of community football in New Zealand is to help the thousands of coaches around the country.

“It’s great to provide a digital, app-based tool for coaches to deliver effective and enjoyable sessions to their players, all aligned with the ‘whole of football’ philosophy.”

CoachMate is a New Zealand technology company born on the sidelines of grassroots sports.

Founders, Leigh Kenyon (former New Zealand age group international and youth coaching expert), with Michelle Walshe (sports film director - Chasing Great and football mother of four) came together to create a tool to support the thousands of volunteer coaches to help deliver great sports experiences to kids.

"We couldn't be more thrilled to partner with New Zealand Football and McDonald's to help deliver their fantastic curriculum to coaches across the country" says CoachMate co-founder Michelle Walshe.

New Zealand Football content is available for free on the CoachMate app from today.
