Kiwi officials Anna-Marie Keighley and Sarah Jones will officiate at this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Keighley has been selected as one of 33 referees and support referees for the tournament, while Sarah Jones has been named as one of 55 assistant referees, alongside Samoa’s Maria Salamasina.
Regularly officiating in the A-League, Keighley and Jones are two of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most decorated officials, having officiated at numerous FIFA tournaments. They officiated together at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019, and Keighley made history at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 in Canada when she became the first referee to officiate five matches at a single World Cup tournament. Jones made history in 2016 when she became the first Kiwi woman to be appointed an assistant referee in an A-League Men’s game.
