Men’s U-20’s Head Coach Tony Readings is stepping down from his role to join FIFA as Technical Consultant for the Oceania Region.
The former Football Ferns Head Coach had been in the role since March 2020 however was yet to play a game because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
NZF Technical Director Andy Boyens said:
“While we are disappointed we won’t have Tony in the U-20’s role moving forward, we are delighted for him and pleased to have his expertise staying in the Oceania region. He may not be working for NZF anymore but we will continue to work closely together.
“With All Whites Head Coach Danny Hay, and U-17’s Head Coach Martin Bullock, Tony has worked to establish a clear alignment in culture and playing philosophy through the men’s national teams.
“Tony may be moving on but the pathways he has helped establish will continue to benefit future players.”
Men’s U-20 Head Coach Tony Readings said:
“It was a very difficult decision to leave NZF but I’m pleased to be staying within the Oceania Region to help develop the game in this part of the world.
“I’m proud of the work Danny, Martin and I have done in aligning the national team structures which should benefit the next generation of playing talent. I wish them every luck in the future.”
The U-20’s position will be overseen by All Whites Head Coach Danny Hay on an interim basis while NZF continues to take stock of the uncertain international football landscape.
