Ford New Zealand has renewed their partnership with New Zealand Football, extending their commitment to the game for girls and women as the official naming partner of the Ford Football Ferns, the Ford Women in Leadership programme, and now the Ford Futsal Ferns.
Ford’s partnership comes at a time when the game for girls and women in Aotearoa New Zealand is exploding, with a 27% growth in participation from before the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
The partnership will ensure the game is supported at all levels, from international football, as the naming partner of the Ford Football Ferns, through the domestic game, as supporting partner of the women’s Dettol National League, to the community level, as naming partner of the Ford Women in Leadership programme and supporter of a range of grassroots initiatives.
In addition to their commitment to the game for girls and women, the partnership sees Ford continue to support futsal, one of the fastest growing sports in the country.
Ford will continue as naming partner of the Ford Futsal SuperLeague, which has been extended in 2025 bringing parity to the men’s and women’s competitions, as well as become the naming partner of the Ford Futsal Ferns, who are set to make their FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup debut this November in the Philippines.
James Wear, GM Brand and Partnerships at New Zealand Football, said:
“We are delighted to extend this exciting partnership and continue the great work Ford’s support has enabled us to do across all levels of the game for girls and women.
“We have seen a huge growth in the game for girls and women following the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, and Ford’s support will allow both our domestic and international programmes to continue to go from strength to strength.
“Ford extending their support of futsal by becoming the naming partner of the Ford Futsal Ferns, as well as continuing as naming partner of the Ford Futsal SuperLeague, is significant as the team get ready to kick off a landmark year by going to the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup for the first time, bringing even more profile to the game in Aotearoa New Zealand.”
“We’re happy to renew the partnership and to continue our support of New Zealand Football,” said Cameron Thomas, Marketing Director, Ford New Zealand.
“As the driving force behind New Zealand sport, it’s a great fit and it makes us especially proud to see the growth and development in the sport and knowing we’re doing our part to help make that happen.”
The Ford Football Ferns play Costa Rica (FIFA rank 43) on Sunday 23 February at 12pm NZT (Saturday 22 February at 5pm local time) and Wednesday 26 February at 2pm NZT (Tuesday 25 February at 7pm local time).
Both games will be played at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
The 2025 Ford Futsal SuperLeague runs from February to April and will see more games broadcast than ever before, with multiple courts livestreamed simultaneously for the first time via broadcast partner FIFA+.
