Chatham Cup result overturned due to ineligible player

New Zealand Football can confirm that due to Palmerston North Marist Football Club fielding an ineligible player in their Chatham Cup Round Two fixture on Saturday 4 June 2022 against Island Bay United Association Football Club, the team’s 4-3 win will be changed to a 3-0 defeat.

While New Zealand Football understands this was a genuine error by the team, New Zealand Football does not have any discretion when it comes to decisions on eligibility, based on previous precedent set and advice from the NZF Disciplinary Committee.

As a result of the decision, Island Bay United Association Football Club will progress to the third round of the Chatham Cup. They will host the winner of the Waterside Karori v Miramar Rangers rescheduled fixture.
