
All White Marko Stamenic has been nominated for the Sky Sport Emerging Talent Award at this year’s ISPS Handa Halberg Awards.
2021 was a breakout year for the 19-year-old midfielder. Stamenic made his Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 as part of the side that finished 6th overall at the tournament. He also made his full senior international debut in October against Curaçao, going on to earn 3 caps during the year.
At club level, after moving to Europe in 2020 following his standout performances at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup, Stamenic made his league debut for Danish giants FC Copenhagen in November 2020. The latter half of 2021 saw Stamenic join HB Køge on loan where played 10 games, scoring one goal.
Stamenic is nominated for the award along with Connor Bell (athletics), Cool Wakushima (snowboarding), Erika Fairweather (swimming) and Grace Nweke (netball).
