As Lower Hutt City cannot qualify for the National League this year, Western Suburbs are looking good for the third National League spot with a three point lead over Wairarapa United - can they hang on?
Auckland City are almost there
With a twelve point lead in the Northern League, City will be as good as home should they win over West Coast Rangers at Kiwitea Street on Saturday afternoon.
Behind them, Auckland United and Eastern Suburbs are looking strong in second and third places respectively.
Fourth place isn't so clear cut - only three points separate six teams with all to play for with seven rounds left. Expect some fireworks in the next few weeks as the teams sort themselves out.
First timers
With the Southern and Mainland Premier Leagues coming together, many teams are playing each other for the first time over the next few rounds of the cup.
This weekend Otago University host Selwyn United for the first time, in what could be a crucial match for both teams' ambitions to go further.
