Football Ferns fans based in New Zealand will be able to watch their favourite team in action against world-class opposition this month with confirmation that all matches from the inaugural Cup of Nations in Australia will be screened live on SKY Sport.

The Cup of Nations will bring the Football Ferns together with fellow FIFA Women’s World Cup contestants Australia, Argentina and Korea Republic from 28 February to 6 March for three double-header match days across three cities over seven days.

World No 6 Australia will go into the Cup of Nations as favourites ahead of the Korea Republic (14), New Zealand (19) and Argentina (36).

“We are really looking forward to being part of this tournament,” Football Ferns coach Tom Sermanni says.

“There will be a different challenge in each of the games and that will be a good benchmark to see how we compete against those different styles.”

The six-match tournament will kick off at Jubilee Stadium in Sydney on Thursday 28 February with Argentina playing Korea Republic followed by the Matildas against the Football Ferns.

Three days later, the Cup of Nations will shift to Brisbane as Argentina and New Zealand go head-to-head at Suncorp Stadium, before Australia take on Korea Republic.

Melbourne’s AAMI Park will play host to the third and final match day of the Cup of Nations on Wednesday 6 March where Korea Republic will face New Zealand before Australia meet Argentina in the last game of the competition.

The Football Ferns will compete in Group E of the FIFA Women’s World Cup against Canada, Cameroon and the Netherlands in June.
