Small Whites is a programme dedicated to our junior Footballers aged between 4 and 12 years. Consisting of Player of the Day certificates, the McDonalds Skills Zone and free "Introduction to Coaching Small Whites" Courses, it's a fantastic way of developing players at this important age.
Player of the Day Certificates
New Zealand Football and its partners want our junior footballers to develop a lifelong passion for the game. Every season we provide "Player of the Day" certificates to clubs who have signed up to the NZF Whole of Football Plan. These are fantastic way of rewarding our players for trying a new skill, putting in a lot of effort or demonstrating fair play.

Introduction to Coaching Small Whites Course
Coaching is an immensely rewarding way to get (or stay) involved with your child's life, in something they love doing (and we suspect you will too). Here's where the Introduction to Coaching Small Whites Course comes in.
We recognise the powerful influence a positive, prepared and willing Game leader/Coach can have on our youngest players so we are making it easy as possible for people to arm themselves with the skills needed to take a role in junior football.
To start with, we're providing a free two-hour course near you that will provide you with everything you need to get started. We will also give you all the games and activities to play with junior footballers too!
If you are interested in attending a course, please contact your local federation. For contact information click here
McDonald's Skills Zone
The McDonald's Skills Zone is designed for players aged 4-12 years old and is in line with the NZF Junior Framework, part of the award winning Whole of Football Plan. The McDonald's Skills Zone is a fun opportunity for young footballers to improve specific techniques relevant to the modern game, as well as giving them a sense of personal achievement and development. It is made up of 5 challenges, each focusing on a fundamental football skill. The challenges are complemented bu coaching activities provided with the programme, allowing players to practice the techniques before giving the challenges a go.
