Capital Football has confirmed former New Zealand cricketer Richard Reid as its new Chief Executive.
Reid played nine ODIs for New Zealand between 1988 and 1991, before later gaining extensive experience in sports management at Canterbury Cricket, Otago Rugby Union and the Highlanders in Chief Executive or General Manager roles.
Football is on the rise in New Zealand with playing numbers growing rapidly, more sponsorship for the game, a higher profile in the media and continued success on the international stage. New Zealand Football has now achieved financial stability and continues to deliver support to New Zealand’s seven federations around the country. Capital Football encompasses the Hutt Valley, Western Zone, Wellington, Horowhenua-Kapiti and Wairarapa region.
A passionate football follower, Wellington-born Reid is enthused with his new role.

Reid takes assumes the role in early 2012.
